Actress Vidya Balan has been out of action for quite sometime now has secretly been preparing for Mohit Suri's Humari Adhuri Kahani is a story she been dying to do ever since Parineeta.

Talking to a leading daily, the powerhouse performer said, "For me, it is an intense love story...something that people have not seen me doing for the longest time."

"It has been a revelation for me as well. It is the strength of the role, the story and the fact that it's been written by Bhatt saab and directed by Mohit made me say yes, she added.
And why not? After all, Vidya's character in the film is loosely based on Mahesh Bhatt's mother Shirin. The director, famous for his auto-biographical Arth, Janam, Daddy and Zakhm, borrowed cues from Shirin, among the other women who influenced his life.
"She was a beautiful woman living in a man's world. And that is one hell of a hazardous journey, more so for a single woman and a single parent. But her courage, strength and dignity kept her going and these are the qualities Vidya draws from her," he said in an interview recently.

Vidya's character in the film is a florist by profession but personally fighting several battles. She play a woman trapped in a loveless marriage, whose life takes eventually takes a turn changing everything about her and her surrounding.
Emraam Hashmi plays her love interest, while Rajkummar Rao has been roped in to play her husband.

Praising Rajkummar, Vidya said, "he's an actor who is unafraid to look into his co-star's eyes while acting and I enjoy that. Very rarely do you come across actors like that."
Director Mohit Suri and Mahesh Bhatt were insistent on making the film with Vidya, so much so that they had decided to shelve it if she didn't come aboard. But instead of being prettified of the expectation, Vidya feels lucky as HAK has got her the opportunity to work with Mahesh Bhatt.
"Bhatt saab is someone who I wanted to work with forever. He has been one of those few directors whose work I really enjoy. But he stopped directing even before I joined. So this is just another way of me getting to work with him," she said.

Aamir Khan beats Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan at the box office – PK becomes the highest grosser Bollywood film!

Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif starrer 'Dhoom 3' is creating a rage at the Box office. The action flick has collected a total of Rs. 271.66 crores worldwide as of Wednesday (December 25).

Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the numbers, "Here's *Fri to Wed* total of #Dhoom3: India ₹ 174.97 cr + Overseas ₹ 96.69 cr [$ 15.57 million]. Worldwide total: ₹ 271.66 cr. BLOCKBUSTER!, he posted.

The third sequel of the 'Dhoom' franchise also starring Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra, had a fabulous opening weekend smashing records set by Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Chennai Express' and Hrithik Roshan's 'Krrish 3'.

'Dhoom 3' is also doing exceptionally well internationally. "#3Idiots is the HIGHEST GROSSER in USA-Canada [$ 6.5 million]. #Dhoom3 is approx $ 5 million till Wed. Should overtake #3Idiots soon!," tweeted Taran Adarsh.

He further shared the collections from Australia and New Zealand as well.

Look what they made Aamir Khan do. They relegated him to a formula driven Hollywood inspired circus act. Ironically there’s a dialogue in Dhoom 3 that says circuses aren’t meant to be intelligent, they’re meant to be stupid and that’s what people pay money to watch.

Aamir though manages to instil some faith in even this empty vessel. Had this been any other Khan or B-town heartthrob you could accept Dhoom 3 as a run-of-the-mill entertainer. But we’re talking here about an actor, filmmaker and genius who sets the benchmark for perfection. Sadly Dhoom 3’s lack of depth is a bonafide disappointment.

The entire dramatic play is centred on a twist. It’s a development easily foreseen if you’ve seen Christopher Nolan’s 2005 classic on magic The Prestige. But if you’re the average Joe who watches movies for the Khan triumvirate you’ll love the twist. The only problem is, twists serve up a great dramatic punch in the finale. But in Dhoom 3 the twist is over by the intermission. Rest of the way you’re left contending with why Abhishek Bachchan’s character is making heavy weather about arresting a criminal whose modus operandi has been all figured out. The film walks a very thin rope of cinematic liberties. And miraculously it doesn’t end up looking all that amateur. Thank Aamir who juggles between the complexities of his role with consummate ease.

If you thought the story was light on logic you haven’t seen the levity in Dhoom 3’s scenes. Aamir rides a BMW street bike on a tight rope. Then this bike transforms into a jet boat. And then it fires harpooned cables and swings around like a trapeze artist would in a circus. Such scenes of outrageous gadgetry are amusing but they used to be the trademark in James Bond movies thirty years ago.

Director Vijay Krishna Acharya who is also responsible for the screenplay and dialogue should have done better at fleshing out the drama and emotions in his scenes. He’s made a slick looking film. The action sequences, the CGI bike transformations and the circus acts all look great. But the force driving them, the story teeters on abysmal points like the whole vengeance saga is fuelled by the fact that a bank refused to fund Aamir’s Dad’s (Jackie Shroff) circus and he committed suicide. How is that the bank’s fault?  

To give you your money’s worth there’s a star cast. There’s Katrina’s great glamour, there’s Uday Chopra’s foolhardy comedy and there’s Abhishek Bachchan’s machismo. There are songs, there’s action and there’s everything you would want to see in a big ticket movie. What’s missing is that something, which makes an Aamir Khan movie a cut above the rest.

'Krrish 3' is a superhero film. It is also a throwback to the creaky family entertainers Bollywood used to make. The hero has special powers, sure, but also a loving daddy, a lovely wifey, an attractive moll and a villain with severe daddy issues. Only a pet poodle or parrot is missing.

Superheroes have been around in Hindi cinema for decades, but huge technology jumps have made 'Krrish 3' the slickest of them all, special effects-wise. The rest of it is marred by tackiness. When Krrish is doing his derring-do stunts, we watch, even if we've seen Superman do this 30 years ago. But when he delivers maudlin dialogue about fathers and mothers and bravery, we are pulled back to the ground with a thud, with the superhero the Roshans made.

Hrithik is the perfect choice amongst the Bollywood superstar lot to do this role. With his superbly articulated chest, each muscle moving and shiny and oiled, Krrish doesn't even need a mask and a cape. But the ensemble is eye-catching, and we ignore his immaculately-styled long hair, flying in the wind, when he is whizzing about rescuing little boys. Roshan Jr is as likeable and earnest as he usually is, but can't rise above the mothballed treatment. Roshan Sr, who has written and directed, should have given the superhero more to do.

But he gets stuck in bringing the backstory forward. The soppy but sweet `Koi Mil Gaya's ( 2003) socially challenged but brilliant Rohit begets Krishna, who finds his super-powers in 'Krrish' ( 2006). Both the ageing Rohit and Krishna star in `'Krrish 3', and both roles are played by Hrithik. Priyanka, playing Krishna's TV reporter wife, has to look on admiringly as Hrithik does his standard dance number. He is still as dextrous, but the dancing has no zing, and the songs are terrible.
